We use Google’s Webmaster Tools and Analytics to learn information about visitors’ behavior on our site.
We use the Google Analytics cookie to understand from what region of the country you are from, what time of day you visited, the length of your visit to our site, how many pages you visited while on our site, in addition to simple demographic data such as age and gender. All data from Google’s tools are anonymous and we will never attempt to merge that data with personally identifiable data.
There are two reasons we gather the data listed above: 1) to help inform improvements to the web pages on our site, so that visitors view more of our content; 2) to help inform our marketing efforts.
Advertising:
We use Google AdWords and BingAds to show advertisements to users who search for related terms to our product. If our ad is successful and it is clicked on, that information is recorded within these tools. To make the most of our marketing dollars, we limit our ads to geographic areas where we think people are most interested in our product. We also only show our ads during times of the day when our site gets the most visitors.
We do not engage in remarketing, which is showing an ad to you after you have visited our site.
If you do not want your data used in these efforts, here are some steps you can take:
1) Download the Google Analytics plugin here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
2) To opt-out of seeing ads based on your interests, go to: http://www.google.com/settings/ads
3) To opt-out of other interest-based online advertising, go to: http://www.networkadvertising.org/choices/
4) Delete the cookies in your browser or make more advanced privacy adjustments on specific cookies in your browser.
